Beating the Odds

Lessons Learned from Pancreatic Cancer

Beating the Odds: Lessons Learned from Pancreatic Cancer is Dr. Sharon Seibel’s powerful and personal account of overcoming one of the deadliest forms of cancer. More than a memoir, this book is a roadmap for navigating cancer with determination, hope, and the courage to challenge the standard of care.

Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and given just a 4% chance of surviving two years, Sharon refused to give up. With only a six-week window to act, her brother—a drug development expert—figured out a groundbreaking treatment. Sharon became the first patient ever to receive it, and ultimately, she was cured.

This is a story of science, strength, family, and faith. Of laughter through tears. Of lessons learned in real time.

👉 Whether you’re a patient, caregiver, physician, or friend, this book offers guidance, inspiration, and tools for navigating the cancer experience.

“With a four percent chance of surviving two years, I knew I had to find another way.”
